Training

Training, courses and one-on-one R tuition for researchers

If you’re new to R, or facing new challenges in your PhD project, or just want to get a bit sharper in your ggplots, combining your R learning with hands-on work is the best way to get started fast! In my new project-based tuition sessions I can share screens, talk through concepts, show examples and work towards your confident coding through hints, helps and advice for best practice.

As a certified R trainer with expertise and training certifications, I can walk you through using the tidyverse to wrangle your data, ggplot to create publication-standard graphs, shiny to present your findings interactively, and Git and GitHub to share your code openly.

From beginner level right up to designing and deploying your own apps and publishing code online for reproducibility, these sessions are designed to give you the confidence to get started, fit your training needs round your project, and set your own development goals.

Venue: Online or in person (in or around Glasgow) Duration: Six one-hour regular sessions, arranged to suit you. Cost: £450 (£350 student deal)

Get in touch if you’re interested in training! I look forward to discussing availability and what goals and pattern of classes would suit your work and project.

(Although ideally this would start with coding together on a piece of your project, in many circumstances this would understandably not be allowed - data security, privacy etc. There may be other options for practice sessions, such as using synthetic data or public data from similar surveys. We can discuss via email what would suit best.)

Teaching R, programming and Data Science

I am a Certified RStudio Instructor, providing training in using tidyverse tools in data science and building interactive Shiny apps.

I have training in using R for Data Science and programming in R and Python.
